Why can't I play Goblins in the WOW trial?

It turns out if you have never bought wow when you sign up for the trial you can only access the "Vanilla" races. But if you buy the vanilla game (~$20) you can get a trial for either of the expansions, Burning crusade or Cataclysm.
It doesn't relate to what files are installed on your PC at all.

  1. It does take a lot to get used to. Used to be made more complicated in that all the client files were free but the install it gave you for vanilla did not include the expansion files. Now you get the game free and you just pay to unlock the later features.

  2. Looks as though I still cannot be motivated to play this game up to level 10. maybe if I went somewhere else to grind the levels until I can purchase a mount I'd be able to handle the long treks along the established roads where I was never attacked. Maybe the higher levels have less backtracking. Maybe the PvP has a lot of variety and is really interesting.

But I don't think I can get motivated to play that long with so little reward.
